Rear Extension - Completed 2016
An existing ground floor flat within an end of terrace house has been extended to create a new dining space facing onto the garden connected off the existing kitchen.
The main section of the extension consists of a sloping frameless glazed roof sitting on vertical glazed sections and a glazed rear elevation. The aim is to create a lightweight, transparent structure to reduce impact at the most prominent upper part of the extension visible from the street, to maximise natural daylight given the north facing orientation, and provide a strong connection to the rear garden.
The floor to the extension is a porcelain tile to give the feel of an enclosed terrace, with the same tiles continuing outside up to the steps leading to the raised lawn.
